We love to help our customers create memorable, beloved gifts and to do that we need to use paper and wood products. Recently, we asked our users what types of changes they would like to see from us and we were overwhelmed with requests to find ways to become more sustainable and eco-friendly. We listened and we feel passionate about trying to help replenish the natural resources that make our products possible.
SimplePrints is proud to announce a new partnership with One Tree Planted for Earth Day 2022.
Our company cares deeply about the environment and we know that our users do too. This partnership is the first step to becoming more involved in environmental initiatives. For World Earth Day, we are donating $1,000 to One Tree Planted to be used in reforestation projects across the United States.
"SimplePrints Photo Books and wall art provide a tangible, permanent way to preserve life’s special moments. Our products are keepsakes meant to be passed down to future generations, and we want to make sure that those generations can live in an environment that has been well taken care of.Partnering with One Tree Planted is a small but meaningful step towards preserving the health and beauty of our planet." - Landen Buckley (CEO of SimplePrints)
About One Tree Planted
One Tree Planted is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit on a mission to make it simple for anyone to help the environment by planting trees. Their projects span the globe and are done in partnership with local communities and knowledgeable experts to create an impact for nature, people, and wildlife. As a US based company, we want to help environmental efforts that directly impact our communities. We plan to continually support reforestation and biodiversity efforts throughout the nation. We have decided to support four individual projects with One Tree Planted; Forest Fire Recovery, National Forests, the Appalachian region, and biodiversity projects throughout the Pacific Northwest and other vulnerable regions.
Forest fires have become an increasing concern over the past few years. Widespread forest fires are a concern for the communities and the creatures that rely on the forest to survive. One Tree Planted created Forest Fire Recovery to restore a healthy environment after fire damage throughout the West coast. They are working hard to maintain the west coast's rich forest diversity which includes pines, giant sequoia, oak, and more. They have specialized members determining the most appropriate species of tree to plant depending on the local ecosystem needs, helping maximize the impact of all the donations received.
One Tree Planted’s partnership with the National Forest Service supports their efforts to create biodiversity in National Forest habitats nationwide. They are committed to preserving the magnificent landscapes that are iconic in American culture. With over 150 national forests, all donations impact healthy outdoor recreation spaces and renew the habitat of their wildlife species like the brown bear, white-tailed deer, and countless songbirds.
One of the richest forests in the United States is in the Appalachia area in the northeastern US. However, excessive manufacturing has dwarfed the habitats from what they once were. According to One Tree Planted, as much as 83% of the region's forests have been destroyed. Their project aims to benefit not just the forest, but also nearby communities as hydrological function will be improved, thus providing them with better quality water as well as creating meaningful jobs for the locals. Their 5 year multistate effort focuses on replenishing the natural resources within Appalachia with conservation practices in mind to ensure a sustainable future helping return the forest to what it once was.
Biodiversity is just as important as planting trees. That is why One Tree Planted has established a biodiversity project to restore forest cover in the Pacific Northwest, Australia, Uganda, and more. Biodiversity refers to the efforts to plant a variety of trees and related flora to replenish natural ecosystems. Reforestation helps to restore at-risk ecosystems and habitats, ultimately increasing food supply, health, and overall well-being.

Why reforestation?
Trees are amazing at helping ecosystems to return to their natural balance. They clean the air we breath, the water we drink, and support the soil beneath our feet. Trees can help restore degraded areas with poor soil stability and provide natural habitats for animals, insects, and fungi.
"We decided to partner with One Tree Planted because we believe in their vision. It is not only about planting trees; it is about understanding what the different regions need to promote biodiversity. This is something that the team at One Tree Planted are doing a great job at." - Landen Buckley (CEO of SimplePrints)
Ideas for Earth Day Celebration
We want to empower our customers to make positive changes as well. There are many ways that individuals can participate in Earth Day activities at home. Consider the following:
Plant a tree in your backyard.
Reduce the amount of water used in your lawn or landscape.
Clean up garbage in your neighborhood or at your local park.
Support local greenhouse growers that raise native plant species.
Plant native species and encourage your local government to use them in commercial landscape.
Research xeriscaping for low-water use options.
Go bird watching and write down which native species you can find.
Plant a community garden in your neighborhood or school, with a focus on native flowers to support your local bees.
